Climate Change – Not Caused By Humans!

June 7, 2009

I just posted an article at http://www.associatedcontent.com/weather about “climate change.” The article keys on scientific evidence that negates the claims of the UN’s IPCC that we humans are the culprit here. I would welcome your comments pro or con about what I’ve posted. The debate needs to be rekindled because the evidence is simply not irrefutable.

Hurricane Preparedness Roadshow

May 23, 2009

Just returned from a long day in Charlotte County, FL where I participated in a “Hurricane Roadshow.” Wayne Sallade (Emergency Manager of Charlotte County), organized the 3 programs. Folks from the insurance industry, Florida state Financial Services Division, Red Cross, National Weather Service and others rounded out the programs. Jim Reif, Chief Meteorologist at ABC – 7 (WZVN-TV) in Fort Myers was the featured speaker.

The goal of the programs was to get people to focus more on storm surge than hurricane winds since surge is the biggest killer in hurricanes. Charlotte County, a low-lying county on Florida’s southwest coast, was slammed by Hurricane Charley in 2004.

Hurricane Storm Surge – A New Look At An Old Problem

May 23, 2009

Just posted an article about “Storm Surge” at Associated Content. It addresses some new wrinkles in how we view this perennial problem. The article was a direct outgrowth a series of preparedness talks I gave in Charlotte County, FL on May 21, 2009.

It’s National SKY AWARENESS WEEK (April 19-25, 2009)

April 21, 2009

It’s National SKY AWARENESS WEEK, a perfect time to look up and appreciate the beauty and science of the sky above.  I am keen on watching the clouds and their constant transformations.  Al Riccio (Rockville, MD resident and cold-season Florida snowbird) shared his sky watching experiences with me the other day.  He, too, was impressed with how changeable the Florida skies really are.  If you aren’t into the weather sky, the Lyrid meteor shower will be in the news.  The bottom line is to take a few moments or more to enjoy, appreciate and learn.

Climate Change Reconsidered: The Report of the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC) Is Coming Soon

April 13, 2009

According to Joseph Bast, President of The Heartland Institute, “a comprehensive report detailing compelling scientific evidence that recent climate change is NOT human-caused, will be published early this summer.”  H. Michael Mogil, CCM and CEO of How The Weatherworks, just reviewed Chapter 6 of the book (severe storms) and can attest to the powerful documentation this book offers.  It will be a must read for anyone in the media, anyone involved in public policy, and anyone involved in the soon-to-be resurrected real climate change debate.
